In Unit 2 Lesson 5, students consider how digitally manipulated photos can affect the way people feel about their appearance, as well as help sell products.
Below you will find the complete lesson plan packet as well as the student sheets separated into individual files for easy reproducing, or you can copy them to your Drive and then share them through Google Classroom.
Also, you will find supplementary material that has been prepared to make implementing the lesson much easier.
All lessons are used freely through Common Sense Media and Common Sense Education. Images in the presentations are all licensed through Creative Commons. (Source)
Teacher Materials & Preparation:
- Review the lesson plan and Nearpod presentation to familiarize yourself with the activities and keywords. Worksheet activities maybe included in the Nearpod presentation.
- Review the Gender and Digital Life Teacher Backgrounder (Elementary School), which is located in the lesson plan packet.
- Prepare to show students the Colorful Lemon Visual. If you are unable to project the visual for the class to see, print out hard copies for students, or download and share a copy through your Google Classroom.
- Preview the Dove® Campaign for Real Beauty’s video “Evolution” and prepare to show it to students (www.dove.ca/en/Tips-Topics-And-Tools/Videos/Evolution.aspx).
- Copy the Magazine Magic Student Handout, one for each group of four or five students.
