SAT & ACT Tests

There are two tests acceptable for admissions purposes but the vast majority of American colleges and universities: SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT.

1. What is the difference between the two? Both tests measure a student’s overall potential for college success.

The ACT provides four scores: English, Mathematics, Critical Reading, and Science Reasoning.

The SAT provides three scores: Critical Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.

Both tests include a writing segment. Although the writing section is optional on the ACT, we encourage students to take it.

2. What test should you take? Many people take both tests. Students may actually do better on one over the other. Some say that if you are better in math, then you will do better on the SAT, where those who perform better in English and social studies are more likely you do better on the ACT. You will want to check with the college(s) of your choice to find out what they require.

3. When should I take the test? We recommend that you first take the ACT/SAT in the spring of your junior year. If you are not satisfied with your results, you can repeat the test in the fall of your senior year.

4. Cost for the tests ACT $46.00 . SAT costs $49.50 and the SAT with Essay costs $64.50

*Fee waivers exist for both tests if you qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch*
