My name is Turkessa Allen, and I am  a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I'm excited to be serving as the mental health therapist at both Mountainview Elementary and Tigerville Elementary School. I have served as a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice, Aligned Focus Counseling, LLC, and prior to that,  Healing Solutions, LLC since August 2018.  I also worked at SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department for a little over 11yrs and prior to that, Greenville Mental Health for 3.5yrs. I earned my  Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and cognate in Social Work from the University of South Carolina in May 2003. I earned my Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in 2011.  I am a licensed therapist  in Mental Health Counseling as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have experience treating the following but not limited to: ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, self-esteem/confidence and related disorders. My approach is strengths based, empowering students and families build on their strengths and improve overall functioning. I also utilize the following treatment modalities but not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client Centered, Strategic, Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing Skills and some Mindfulness.  

My counseling approach is centered in meeting individuals where they are so that I get to become curious in their life experiences and collaborate a therapeutic partnership to take an active role in creating the positive changes they want to see. We no longer have to repeat the same cycles that no longer serve the highest good for individuals and families.
