Mission: The mission of WHHS is to Educate, Inspire and Empower.

Purpose: The purpose of WHHS is to educate and inspire students to become responsible, discerning, productive citizens empowered to change the world.

Vision: Our vision centers on a shared philosophy that we must serve our diverse student body with a personalized plan for all students beginning at their current academic level and guiding them to graduation and beyond, fully prepared and confident to contribute to society.

Susan Wines

Orchestra Director, Wade Hampton High School

Susan Wines’ enthusiasm for music and teaching began as double bass player in middle school. It continued to develop through teacher encouragement as well as participation in All-State, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, and several Honor Orchestras. After high school, Susan Wines attended Converse College where she graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Music in Instrumental Music Education. In 2008, she initiated the Band & Strings program at Ralph Chandler Middle School in Simpsonville, SC. While teaching at Ralph Chandler Middle, she established a beginning and intermediate program for band and strings as well as a full orchestra honors ensemble. These ensembles traveled to Music Festivals in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina and received numerous Superior Ratings. In 2016, she accepted a new position as Director of Orchestras at Wade Hampton High School. In addition to teaching, she has enjoyed her role of being an adjudicator Concert Performance Assessment and Solo & Ensemble Festival; assisting the Wade Hampton High School Bands; a guest speaker and mentor for pre-service teachers; and guest conductor for Region Orchestras as well as at several Summer Music Camps in the Mid-West, Northeast and Southeast regions. Susan Wines is lead strings teacher of Greenville County, Greenville County Youth Orchestra Sinfonia Conductor, SC-ASTA President, SCMEA Orchestra Division Board Member and has been recognized as a WYFF Golden Apple Teacher Award Recipient as well as Teacher of the Year. ​
