December 2017

Parents,

Greenville County Schools is constantly working to improve its programs and services to our students and families. Every five years, we go through a comprehensive strategic planning process including annual progress reviews as part of AdvancED’s accreditation. These planning and review processes are important in validating the quality of our academic programs. They also help colleges recognize quality schools, which can play a role in determining a student’s college acceptance.

This is our year to revise the strategic plan, but we need your input to make sure we get it right. In January, the GCS Board of Trustees and a team of approximately 80 community members, business leaders, educators, parents, and students will work together to determine three to five long-term objectives that will be the focus of our district’s actions over the next five years. To help that group identify the objectives that are most important to you, we need you to provide feedback via an electronic AdvancED parent survey. The data collected from this survey will also help individual schools revise local strategic plans to better respond to the needs of their students, families, and communities.

You may take this survey anytime from December 4-20, so don’t wait! Please submit your survey as soon as possible using the link shown below, or visit the GCS website at www.greenville.k12.sc.us and click on the Strategic Planning Parent Survey button on the front page. If you have multiple children in our schools, fill out a separate survey to reflect the needs and experiences of each of your children. Student and teacher surveys are also an important part of this process, but those will be completed at school.

If you don’t have convenient internet access, visit your child’s school. Front office personnel will provide you with access to a computer linked to this survey. Thank you in advance for your participation in this important process.
