Student Driving & Parking
Driving to school is a privilege extended to students who meet the expectations outlined in the Riverside High School Pass Information.
Failure to meet any of the expectations may result in the suspension, or loss of, your parking permit and driving privileges. Cost of Annual Permit: $75 for all students for the 2025-2026 school year.
Students must present:
● A valid South Carolina driver’s license
● Valid South Carolina vehicle registration
● Current South Carolina vehicle insurance card
● A completed Riverside High School Parking Application
Parking a vehicle on school property is a privilege, not a right. This privilege may be revoked as a result of parking lot rules violations or poor conduct within the school. Any driver found driving in an unauthorized area on school grounds, such as grassy or unpaved areas, will lose their parking privileges. Any display of recklessness, irresponsibility, disregard for safety, or parking in an off-limit area may result in revocation of a student’s parking privilege. Student drivers are expected to be on time to school and may lose their parking privileges due to excessive late arrivals.
Due to space restrictions and increasing enrollment, only a limited number of parking permits will be sold. Permits may be purchased by any student that meets the requirements until all spaces are filled. When all spaces have been filled, students may be placed on a waiting list by completing the application process. As permits become available throughout the year, names will be called in order from the waiting list.
Further rules and procedures are outlined in the Student Parking Application available on the school website. Students and parents must read and sign this application prior to a parking permit being issued.
If someone is parked in your spot DO NOT park in another numbered space. Park in the Overflow area and report to the counseling office that someone parked in your spot. Administrators will address the issue.
Driver’s Responsibilities
Greenville County Schools provides bus transportation between the regular high school campus and the Career Centers. The District prefers that all students take advantage of this transportation.
A student must possess a RHS parking permit in order to obtain permission to drive to off-campus programs.
All parking lots are off-limits to students during the school day. Upon arriving on campus, students are to get out of their cars and report to the building area. Permission to return to a parking lot must be obtained from an administrator. Violation of this policy will result in disciplinary action.
Riverside High School reserves the right to have any vehicle towed, at the owner’s expense, if it is in violation of any parking regulation. Additionally, Riverside High School reserves the rights to amend, delete, or add to regulations during the course of the school year. Parking privileges may be revoked due to poor conduct and behavior.
Parking permits are the property of the school. Students who withdraw must return the permit to the clerk in charge of parking.
Parking permits will be sold throughout the school year for $75 if there is availability.

Student Drop Off and Pick Up:
The following regulations have been established to ensure a safe environment on school campus:
Parents will not pick up a student in the bus loading area in front of Riverside High School.
All students should be dropped-off or picked-up at the rear of RHS off Suber Road. If a student has an injury that requires them to be picked up by a parent, the parent should use the visitor’s parking space.
All studenst that DO NOT ride a bus should use the student entrance off of Suber Road.
Parents should not drop off students on the roads or sidewalks. These are South Carolina state laws violations.
Parents who violate the above regulations may be issued a Warning Notice/Ticket.
If a Parent/Person is issued a Warning Notice and continues to violate the above regulations, they may be issued a Notice of Trespass making it necessary for the student to find an alternative method of transportation.
Student Walkers:
At the high-school level, parents/guardians are responsible for deciding the method of transportation for their child. Once my child leaves school property or a school vehicle, school employees are not responsible for supervising or monitoring my child’s safety. Accordingly, parents/guardians are responsible for their child’s safety once the student leaves school property or school vehicle.
