Actor’s Toolbox
I believe that life-long success depends on self-discipline. With that in mind, we have formulated five tools our “tool-box”. Your child is responsible for controlling these five things, giving every student the opportunity to manage his or her own behavior. Your child deserves the most positive environment possible for academic and personal growth. Therefore, this plan will be in effect at all times.
When your child comes to morning meeting, he or she will get a jewel. The jewel is a concrete reminder of the tools he or she needs in First Grade. Each student will agree to try their best to keep the following five tools with them during the school day. The tools are as follows:
*Their body is in control.
*Their voice is in control.
*They are ready to use their imagination.
*They are ready to concentrate.
*They are ready to cooperate.
Individual Behavior: To encourage students to follow school and classroom rules, I will reinforce appropriate behavior in a number of ways – through praise, positive reinforcement, awesome chart, notes/emails home, and reward coupons.
If a student chooses not to be in charge or his/her first grade tools, I will contact you via email or phone call.
Class Behavior: As a class, we will reveal a reward hidden under sticky notes. Once all the sticky notes are removed we will enjoy that reward.
