Mr. Gambrell

Greetings, Gateway Gators!

My name is Jake Gambrell and I serve our Gateway community as Assistant Principal. I am thrilled to be a part of our school family and look forward to caring for our young learners and their families. 

Before coming to Gateway, I served as an Instructional Coach, SC State Literacy Specialist, and classroom teacher. I have taught K5 Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th grade as well as reading intervention for 1st-3rd grade students.

I graduated from North Greenville University in 2008 with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education. In 2013, I graduated from Clemson University with my Master of Education Degree in Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages. I also earned my National Board Certification in Literacy: Reading-Language Arts in Early and Middle Childhood. Additionally, I added early childhood education to my teaching certificate. In the Spring of 2023, I graduated from Furman University with my Education Specialist Degree in School Leadership.

My wife and I were married in December 2020 and have a sweet goldendoodle named Auggie. My wife, Katie, serves our community as a palliative care physician. We live in Downtown Greenville and visit TR often as we love biking on the Swamp Rabbit Trail to explore all that Downtown TR has to offer. We love to travel, spend time with family and friends, volunteer and serve at our church, and be active outside. We are often out walking in Downtown Greenville with our Auggie Doggie visiting the wonderful coffee shops and restaurants located there. We love supporting the arts community in Greenville and frequent local theatres such as the Peace Center and the Greenville Theatre. I enjoy running, biking, gardening, and reading. 

As we move throughout the school year, please know that I am here to support your child, his/her teacher, and your family. I believe it takes all of us to ensure a positive, successful learning experience for all students. I look forward to meeting each Gator and seeing everyone reach their personal best!
