Erin's Law Legislation Requirement

In 2014 the South Carolina Legislation passed Erin’s Law, as part of Health and Safety Education. The purpose of the law is to ensure that all students PreKindergarten through High School receive this prevention instruction during the academic school year. The intent of the law is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to remain safe from sexual assault and how to make a report if an assault occurs. Instructional units were written as a resource guide for educators to implement Erin’s Law. These units are aligned with the South Carolina Academic Health and Safety Education. Lesson content varies from grade to grade. A copy of each lesson will be available at your child’s school for you to preview if you choose. Over the next school year your child will be presented this lesson by a counselor or PE teacher. The lesson content is not part of sexuality education and only discusses age appropriate health and safety education. If you have any further questions after you have previewed the materials please contact your child’s counselor

Please view the resource below for more information on why this educational awareness/prevention program is essential to our student's safety
