Mrs. DeLong's Third Grade Class

I am delighted to have your child in my class!  This will be an exciting year of learning and developing new skills.  As you are the major influence in your child’s performance at school, I am asking you to be my partner in your child’s education.  I will only teach your child for a short time – just one fleeting school year – and I want to make a contribution that lasts a lifetime.

Every child can learn, and I realize that each child is an individual with his or her own learning style and interests.  There will be different levels of learning taking place at the same time in our classroom.  Please be aware of this and be supportive of your child’s success at the learning level he or she has attained.

Being able to read is one of the most valuable skills your child will ever learn.  Helping your child develop the skills necessary to become a successful reader can be one of the most important jobs you do.  I encourage you to take your child to the public library, check out books, and help your child develop a love of reading.  Please invest 10-15 minutes of your time each day to listen to your child read his or her reading assignment.  The individualized help given at home will improve your child’s reading skills.  Most of all, I want your child to enjoy this new world of reading and writing.

Through our cooperative efforts, I believe you will see your child make strong gains in all subjects.  Let’s work together to help your child succeed!  I look forward to teaching your child this year.  Thank you for your support!
