NTN Inquiry-Based ART 3H Syllabus

Art 3H is an advanced-level class for the student wishes to pursue higher level art work, but does not wish to pursue the AP Studio Art track. Focus is placed on the independent creation of an individual portfolio, and is aligned with CHS’s “Profile of the Ideal Graduate/Junior” – with project emphasis on “State & Nation”.

The school-wide learning outcomes of development of personal expression through individual style (“artistic voice”), skill-building with quality craftsmanship, reflection and writing within the art content area, presentation of a body of artwork, persistence through struggle,

    • Class Norms + syllabus

    • Update website created in Art 1
    • Early plans for Semester Show is laid out --- students will create a class exhibit that showcases the work from the semester, as well as design their PR packages (programs, posters, post cards, etc.)

National Art Honor Society


Students who excel in art class and hold an overall GPA of 2.0+ may be extended an invitation to join our chapter of the National Art Honor Society (NAHS). See instructor for details.


MISSED WORK


      • All assignments are due by assigned date.
      • Late assignments lose Agency points.
      • After 5 days, work will NOT be accepted.


ACADEMIC & ARTISTIC HONESTY


    • According to District policy, all imagery must be original, and cannot use any material that is copyrighted. Google images, websites, comics/Anime, books and magazines, etc. cannot be copied.
    • ALL work *MUST* be your own, and done by your own hand.

DISCIPLINE POLICY


Consequences for school and District infractions include verbal warnings and conferences with teacher, contact home, and referrals to Guidance. Should behavior persist, a discipline referral with conference involving all parties (student(s), teacher, parents, Guidance, Administration) will be conducted.



PARENT COMMUNICATION


I am available through phone calls, emails or conferences – once contacted, I will respond within 24 business hours.


GRADING

Grading is done within the 5 Domains of New Tech:


    • Knowledge & Thinking (50%) = art work
    • Written Communication (15%) = written work
    • Oral Communication (15%) = presenting and speaking about your work to others
    • Collaboration (10%) = working with your partner, and others
  • Agency (10%) = life skills of effort, participation, and meeting deadlines
