The GCS Virtual Program uses a SYNCHRONOUS model of instruction. This means, teachers and students are online at the same time, together, engaged in learning activities.
The following information pertaining to attendance is drawn from the Greenville County Schools Virtual Program Student/Parent Handbook.
Students are counted present when they are present in a Google Meet for the entire time of instruction with their cameras on and face visible.
Students who do not have their cameras on will be removed from class and marked absent.
Please visit the handbook for additional information.
Students who were most successful last year are those who:
Attended class daily
Engaged with teachers and classmates by having their cameras on and faces centered
Participated in class discussion
Collaborated with peers in breakout rooms
Completed their daily assignments
As in brick and mortar, students are expected to be engaged in class discussions and activities. Classes will include whole group learning, small group work, partner work and individual work, and student participation and engagement is a vital part of every learner's experience.
