I am originally from Venezuela and have been living in the U.S. for 18 years. For two decades, I have taught Spanish Language and Literature, including 15 years at Travelers Rest High School. Last year, I embarked on a new journey as a teacher of Multilingual Learners at TRHS.
My academic background includes a bachelor's degree in Modern Language Education with a major in English from Universidad de Carabobo in Venezuela. Before moving to the U.S., I completed a graduate program in Educational Research at Universidad Pedagógica Experimental Libertador. Additionally, I earned a master’s degree in the Teaching of Spanish Language and Culture from Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca in Spain. Over the years, I have taught both English as a Foreign Language and Spanish Language and Literature. Currently, I am working on my dissertation for a Ph.D. in Second Language Acquisition Research at the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico. I also serve as the lead sponsor for La Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica Capítulo Cervantes at TRHS.
On a personal note, I am happily married and the proud parent of a son who is starting eighth grade this year. I love traveling, cooking, and hosting gatherings.
I am truly excited for the year ahead and all the learning opportunities it will bring for all of us. I look forward to working with you!
