About SIC

Eastside High School Improvement Council (SIC) Goal

The 2025-2026 goal of the Eastside High School Improvement Council is to support EHS by actively seeking and acting on feedback from all stakeholders and recommending sustainable policies that align with the school's mission, vision, and five-year plan. SIC aims to enhance communication between the school and home by creatively reaching all families, including those who speak languages other than English.

What is a School Improvement Council (SIC)? 

A School Improvement Council (SIC) is: 

• broad-based 

• parents – teachers – community members students – administrators – school leaders 

• advisory only 

• focused on school improvement 

• required at every K-12 public school by law

What does the SIC do? 

• Provides input and feedback on strategic improvement plans and updates 

• By law, every school must create five-year Plan and update annually 

  • Includes reading plans required by “Read to Succeed” Act 

• Assists school in implementing improvement activities 

  • Activities may be from Plan or developed by SIC 

  • Monitors and reports on progress toward improvement goals 

• Annual SIC Report to the Parents 

• Narrative in the school’s yearly SC Report Card

• Monitors school climate
