My name is Daisha Hennicken, and I am originally from Monroe, MI. Yes, I show people where I'm from by pointing to my hand. 🖐️ My husband Paul and I moved to South Carolina in 2003 for his doctoral program and never left. We have 3 sons: Charlie, 13; Finn, 11; and Jackson, 8. I earned a BA in English and a BE in Adolescent Education from the University of Toledo in Ohio, and I earned my Masters in the Teaching of English from Columbia University in New York City.
This is my 20th year teaching high school English and my third at Riverside High School. I previously taught at Wade Hampton High School from 2003-2021 with a brief hiatus when my older boys were born. During my time at WHHS, I served as the Student Council advisor, JV Volleyball coach, and English department chair and helped start the school's Beta Club. Most recently I taught in the GCS Virtual Program from 2021-2023 where I once again served as department chair and started the Podcast Club.
Outside of school, I enjoy reading, travel, and sports.
