The mission of Monaview Elementary is to empower each student with the foundation needed

to grow educationally and socially.

About me:

My name is Michael Coates and I am so happy to be your child's teacher this year. This will be my twelfth year of teaching, and my first year here in South Carolina, at Monaview Elementary. I graduated from the University of South Florida in 2004 with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Studio Art. I received my K-6 teaching certification from The School District of Hillsborough County, Florida. I have my ESOL certification. Also, I earned my Teacher Leadership Certificate from the University of South Florida, spending many years training new teachers from the USF College of Education. I am considered highly qualified to teach third grade by the South Carolina State Department of Education.
