Cell Phones are great resources but also can be a great distraction. Since Educational Support is designed intentionally to best serve each individual student, class time is invaluable. In Educational Support this year students will be asked to place their cell phone(s) in a clear pocketed cell phone holder located in each classroom. Students will put the phone(s) out of sight, either in a bookbag, pocket, or another place where it is not seen during instructional time. During this time if a student’s cell phone(s) is seen then they will be given a warning. If it is seen again, lunch detention will be given. The third offense will result in lunch detention as well. The fourth offense will result in a referral for “Refusal to Obey.” If your student’s cell phone(s) continues to be an issue a parent/teacher conference will be held to discuss further steps. Students will be allowed time to take their cell phone(s) out and listen to music as they work or send a quick text or two once the teacher gives the signal that cell phone(s) are allowed. A parent form will be sent home at the beginning of each semester for parent(s) to read, review, and sign agreeing to the classroom cell phone policy.
