This is an excerpt from the Student Handbook 2021-2022
DRESS FOR SUCCESS
The purpose of our dress code is to ensure the safety of our students and the
integrity of the educational setting. In addition, since high school is designed
to prepare students for work, and being an adult, our dress code takes
common work attire into consideration, and is designed to teach students that
there are times and places for casual attire. Students are advised to exercise
discretion relative to personal appearance, grooming, and dress. Students are
expected to avoid dress and/or personal appearance that is unsafe, unhealthy,
expose undergarments, a distraction to others, and/or disruptive to the
educational process. All items in the dress code are gender neutral and apply
to all students. All dress code issues must be corrected prior to entering the
building and remain corrected throughout the day; students will need to either
fix the issue, or the parent will have to pick them up.
1. Skirts and shorts should be properly fitted, in good taste and
may not be shorter than mid-thigh.
2. At no time should the student’s midriff be visible while
standing, sitting, or participating in normal school activities. All
dress code decisions will be determined when the student is
standing up straight with hands above their head.
3. Cleavage cannot be visible at any time.
4. Wearing pajamas, house coats, and clothes that are suggestive or
revealing is prohibited, and at no time should undergarments be
visible at school.
5. Tops worn with leggings, jeggings, yoga pants, or any type of
excessively tight material must not be shorter than
mid-thigh. Any outer garment (dress, skirt, shorts, tops) that are
worn over these types of bottoms must meet dress code.
6. Wearing improper shoes is a safety concern; therefore, no
slippers, bedroom shoes, house shoes, or other inappropriate
footwear, as determined by administration.
7. Pants, jeans, and shorts must be worn at the waist. (NO
SAGGING) Clothing may not drag the floor. Undergarments,
including shorts, underwear, tights, leggings, etc., cannot be
seen between the thighs and waist.
8. Clothing should not have holes that expose skin above
mid-thigh.
9. The shoulder piece of all shirts, dresses, and tops must be at
least the width of the student ID card. Sleeveless shirts and tops
must be hemmed and acceptable in a professional manner.
Spaghetti-strap tank tops are not allowed to be worn by
anyone and cleavage should never be visible on any student.
10. No skin or undergarments may be visible in any way;
transparent clothing must have undergarments that meet dress
code.
11. Clothing or jewelry which depicts alcohol, drugs, profanity,
weapons, gang activity or obscene pictures and/or writing,
messages that are socially disparaging and/or degrading to a
group or an individual, crime related, sexually explicit,
excretory in nature, and groups that advocate violence in either
word or deed are strictly prohibited on campus and at school
functions.
12. Head coverings, (hoods, hats, bandanas, wraps, shower caps,
etc.) sunglasses, hair curlers, skullies or do-rags are not
permitted and will be confiscated if seen in the building.
13. Trench coats are prohibited at school.
14. Chains are not permitted.
Students who are in violation of the dress code will be required to change
clothes. If they are unable to comply with the dress code, they will be sent
home. Students can return only when they meet dress code requirements.
Continued violation can lead to ISS or OSS. The administration reserves the
right to make final judgment on the appropriateness of individual student
dress.
