Week One:

  • Introductions and Names Rules and Expectations
  • Warm-Ups: Body and Voice
  • Importance of Focus, Discipline, Structure in Theatre

Week Two:

  • Blocking- Stages and their Areas, Levels, & Positions
  • 8 Characteristics of a Stage Voice and "Grip Top Sock"
  • Name Quiz (Rehearsal grade)
  • Introduce Improvisation & Pantomime

Week Three: September

  • Develop the actor’s STAGE VOICE
  • Develop Team Building and Ensemble work- Numbers Game, Zip, Zap Zog
  • Develop Pantomime Skills
  • Grip Top Sock recital (Performance Grade) & Audience Etiquette

Week Four:

  • Develop pantomime into Tableau
  • Review for Unit Test Unit Test (Performance Grade)
  • Snapshots- Develop storyline SNAPSHOT Performance- (Minor Grade)

Week Five:

  • Acting Scenes- Partners and scripts
  • Techniques to create Blocking
  • Develop blocking to convey relationships/conflicts/meaning

Week Six:

  • Blocking Checked (Homework Grade) Snapshot of Blocking Notes
  • Working with partner groups to enhance the Blocking
  • Upload Video of Blocking (Rehearsal Grade)

Week Seven: October

  • Line Memorization Checked- Upload Video (Rehearsal Grade)
  • Polish Scenes for performance, Peer Critiques of scenes
  • Scene Performances (Performance Grade)

Week Eight: thru October 18

  • Develop story and character for monologue
  • Written monologue due (Rehearsal grade)
  • Memory Check for Monologue ( Rehearsal grade)
  • PERFORM Monologue (Performance-MID TERM ASSESSMENT)

Week Nine:

  • Teddy Bear Tea Script and Characters developed
  • Polish dialogue

Week Ten: November

  • Finalize script for TBT
  • Audition/ Casting of TBT
  • Develop toy groups and routines

Week Eleven:

  • Begin Blocking of speaking roles
  • Finish toy group routines and polish

Week Twelve:

  • Begin Full Run Thru Rehearsals with both speaking roles and group routines
  • Polish routines or blocking as needed
  • Speaking roles work on memorizing lines

Week Thirteen:

  • Pull and Assess Costumes for Teddy Bear Tea
  • Run thru w/ lines with speaking roles and routines with toy groups

Week Fourteen:

  • Finish Set, Costumes, Sound for Teddy Bear Tea
  • Dress Rehearsals (Major Grades)
  • SATURDAY Dec. 2 at the Hyatt- Teddy Bear Tea Performance (MAJOR Grade)

Week Fifteen:

  • Evaluation of the Performances
  • Unit on Theatre Roles and Responsibilities
  • Theatre Roles and Responsibilities Unit Test (Major Grade)

Week Sixteen:

  • Performance Scenes for EOC Performance- Decide on Partners and Read scripts
  • Develop blocking to convey relationships/conflicts/meaning

Week Seventeen:

  • Finalize blocking and character work for EOC Performance
  • Pick-up Rehearsals for School Performances
  • Elementary School Performances Dec. 15
  • Possible Performance at Fine Arts Showcase

Week Seventeen: January [EOC TESTING BEGINS]

  • Continue with Blocking for EOC Performances
  • Blocking/ Memory Check for EOC Upload Video (Rehearsal Grades)

Week Eighteen: January [EOC TESTING CONTINUES]

  • EOC Rehearsals and Performances
  • Review
  • (Written Exam)

Week One: August

  • Small Projects and Skills Pre-Assessments
  • Identification of Theatre Spaces: Storage, Workspaces, Stage

Week Two:

  • Tool Identification Safety Rules
  • Skills Development- Drill
  • Continue w/ Small Projects

Week Three: September

  • Tool Identification Test
  • Lighting maintenance and refocus
  • Continue to develop Drill skills
  • Begin Skills Development- Jig Saw

Week Four:

  • Skills Assessment- Drills
  • Continue to develop Jig Saw skills

Week Five:

  • Skills Assessment- Jig Saw
  • Develop SET DESIGN for Fall Show
  • Develop LIGHT and SOUND DESIGN for Fall Show

Week Six:

  • Set Construction for Fall Show begins
  • Technical design for Haunted Hallway

Week Seven: October

  • Set Construction continues
  • Set up space for Midnight Jam/Haunted Hallway
  • Set up Jail for Spirit Week (Friday)

Week Eight: SPIRIT WEEK (and thru October 18)

  • Set up stage as needed for Spirit Week events
  • Set Construction continues
  • Develop costumes for Fall Show

Week Nine:

  • Strike Jail from Spirit Week
  • Finalize set construction
  • Continue with costumes

Week Ten: November

  • Begin Paint applications
  • Finalize Lights- Focus and Gel

Week Eleven:

  • Finalize paint applications for Fall Show
  • Finalize programming for lights- Fall Show

Week Twelve: Production Week for Fall Show

  • All Technical Elements for Fall Show completed
  • Begin work on the Teddy Bear Tea
  • Ushers for Fall Show

Week Thirteen:

  • Strike the stage from the Fall Production
  • Teddy Bear Tea Production- Props and Costumes

Week Fourteen:

  • Finalize Teddy Bear Tea production
  • Begin Design Project- Outreach Show (Final Exam)
    • Elements of a Design Portfolio
    • Develop teams, read script

Week Fifteen:

  • Design Project: Play summary due
  • Design Project: Design Concept due

Week Sixteen: thru December

  • Design Project: Technical Description due
  • Set up for Fine Arts Showcase

Week Seventeen: January [EOC TESTING BEGINS]

  • Finalize sketches for Portfolio
  • Develop oral presentation of the Design Portfolio
