Greetings from the Welcome Library! My name is Amanda Clay and I am very excited to be your librarian.

A library should be many things~~

• A home for learning and ideas, in the form of books, online resources, and the brains of our fantastic patrons!
• A place to come together and create~ whether we are creating a LEGO dinosaur, a concrete poem, or the very best biographical reports EVER, the library is a makerspace.
• A safe place~ No matter who you are or what you're looking for, the library is for YOU.

Book Fair Thanks!

A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported the Book Fair! This is the main fundraiser we have for the library and we are very grateful for everyone who took the time to come and look and maybe buy a book (or poster! Or eraser shaped like a koala!). Congratulations to Ms Emmerson's class on winning the first yearly round of Book Fair Bingo~ enjoy the classroom reads! We will be back in the spring with our Buy One Get One book fair~ see you there!

Battle of the BOOKS!!!

Do you like to read? Do you like to win? Have I got an opportunity for you! Come join the Welcome Wolves Battle of the Books team and help us read our way to victory!

It's easy!

1. Start checking out and reading the books on the B.O.B (that's library shorthand for Battle of the Books) shelf.
2. Come to our meetings, Wednesdays after school from 2:30-3:30 (you'll need to ask your parents, and be sure someone can pick you up when the meeting's over)
3. Make the commitment to read, learn, and practice the books and questions.

We've done some changing and rearranging here in the Welcome Library~ constantly getting so many new books means we need to make space! If you're looking for something special, have we got a deal for you!

• Graphic novels! We love them and we keep getting more! Look for the T-Rex and on the shelves below you will find SO MANY GRAPHIC NOVELS! Read them all!
• Series! The only thing better than a good book is two good books! When you find a story you love, it's easy to wish it went on forever. Check out the tops of the non-fiction shelves to find your favorite series, and keep checking back to see when the next volume comes out.
• New Books! We try to keep fresh stories flowing into the library. Look for the signs that say "CHECK OUT THESE NEW BOOKS" and find out what's new!
• Libros en Espanol~ If you read Spanish, or would like to, look under the windows for our Spanish language and bilingual books. We have everything from baby board books to chapter books, with more coming soon!

Attention Parents!

Do you like to read? Do you want to read with your children? Come in and browse our collection. All books in the Welcome Library are available for you to check out, using your kid's account. Stop by any time, pick out your books and bring them to the desk.

We love readers! Reading with your child is one of the very best ways to improve your child's literacy success. It's also great for bonding and just having fun!

READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK!!!

Welcome library had the most fun hosting a weeks worth of reading and writing fun and excitement in celebration of the life and career of Dr Seuss! Local picture book legend Melinda Long visited and spoke to the kids about what it takes to be a writer (and a pirate!). We also hosted a number of dress up days, and saw some stunning results. We even had a door decorating contest that was SO HARD to judge! Thanks so much to all the students and staff who gave us their time, energy and imagination.
