What is the GC Advantage?

At Greenup County Schools, we believe every student deserves more than a diploma.

They deserve opportunities.
They deserve support.
They deserve a plan.
They deserve a place where they are known, encouraged, challenged, and prepared for what comes next.

That is the GC Advantage.

The GC Advantage is our commitment to helping students discover their strengths, explore their interests, build real-world skills, and graduate ready for their future — whether that future includes college, career, military service, technical training, entrepreneurship, or another path entirely.

At GC, students do not have to choose between strong academics, career preparation, extracurricular opportunities, or a true sense of belonging.

Here, they can have it all.

BELONG

A Place to Belong

Before students can succeed, they need to feel connected.

At Greenup County, students are part of something bigger than themselves. They are part of a school family rooted in pride, tradition, hard work, and community.

Whether a student finds their place in the classroom, on a team, in the band, on stage, in a club, through student leadership, or through a career pathway, we want every student to know they matter here.

Our schools are built on relationships. Students are known by name, supported by caring adults, and encouraged to get involved in ways that help them grow.

At GC, belonging is not just a word. It is part of who we are.

Students can belong through:

Athletics
Band, arts, drama, and performance opportunities
Clubs and student organizations
Career and technical student organizations
Leadership opportunities
Community service
School traditions and events
A strong Musketeer family atmosphere

EXPLORE

Discover What Is Possible

Every student’s future looks different, and that is why exploration matters.

At Greenup County, students are encouraged to explore their interests, strengths, goals, and career possibilities throughout their school journey. We want students to ask important questions early and often:

What am I good at?
What do I enjoy?
What kind of future do I want?
What steps can help me get there?

Through academic planning, career exploration, pathway opportunities, dual credit, college and career conversations, and hands-on experiences, students begin to see what is possible for their future.

The GC Advantage helps students explore options before graduation, so they can make confident decisions after graduation.

Students have opportunities to explore:

Career pathways
College options
Dual credit opportunities
Technical and skilled trade programs
Leadership roles
Extracurricular activities
Student interests and strengths
Future goals and next steps

BUILD

Build Skills That Matter

At Greenup County, students do more than prepare for the future.

They begin building it.

Through career pathways, dual credit, the Jesse Stuart Institute, the Greenup County Area Technology Center, and other hands-on learning opportunities, students can develop skills that matter beyond the classroom.

Students can earn college credit, work toward industry certifications, gain career-focused experience, and take meaningful steps toward their goals while still in high school.

Whether a student plans to attend a four-year college, complete a technical program, enter the workforce, pursue military service, or follow another path, GC provides opportunities to help them graduate with confidence and direction.

GC students can build their future through:

19 areas of study
50+ industry certification opportunities
Dual credit courses
Jesse Stuart Institute
Greenup County Area Technology Center
Career and technical education
Work-based learning experiences
College and career readiness support

LAUNCH

Graduation Is the Starting Line

The GC Advantage is about making sure students leave Greenup County prepared for what comes next. For some students, that next step is college. For others, it is a career, a trade, military service, technical training, or another opportunity.

Whatever path they choose, our goal is for every student to graduate with a plan, a purpose, and the confidence to move forward.

At GC, students do not just leave with memories. They leave with experiences, skills, opportunities, and a community that continues to believe in them.

Our goal is for students to graduate:

Prepared
Confident
Connected
Skilled
Goal-oriented
Ready for college, career, military service, or life after high school

The GC Advantage: Students

Every student’s GC Advantage looks a little different.

For one student, it may be earning college credit before graduation.
For another, it may be finding confidence through the arts.
For another, it may be learning a trade, earning a certification, competing in athletics, joining band, leading a club, or discovering a career pathway they never knew existed.

The GC Advantage is personal.

It is about helping each student find their path — and giving them the tools, support, and encouragement to follow it.

The GC Advantage: A Message From Our Principals

The GC Advantage is not just found in programs, pathways, or opportunities.

It is found in the people who make those opportunities possible.

For our students, that often begins with a teacher who believes in them, a principal who knows their name, a coach who pushes them to grow, or a staff member who helps them see something in themselves they may not have seen yet.

Across Greenup County Schools, our principals, teachers, and staff members work each day to help students belong, explore, build, and launch into their future.

They are the encouragers, mentors, guides, and steady voices who help students find their path — and remind them they do not have to walk it alone.

The GC Advantage is personal for our students because the people behind it make it personal.
