My name is Barry Porter and I have been teaching machine tool for 21 years at Green County Area Technology Center. I am a graduate of Taylor County High School. I have an Associates Degree from Lindsey Wilson College; an Associates Degree from Western Kentucky University; and a Bachelors Degree from Western Kentucky University. I am certified by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) as well as an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer.
I was proud to be a part of this program as a high school student. I also had the privilege of having a great teacher in this program--my dad. My father taught at this school when it was known as the Green County Vocational School. I worked in the field of industry for 20 plus years before pursuing my dream of becoming a machine tool teacher and following in my father's foot steps.
My wife, Michelle, is also an educator in the Green County school system. We have 2 sons and 3 grandchildren. In my spare time I enjoy jeep rides; spending time with family and friends; and hobby farming.
I look forward to each school year and meeting new students. I have high hopes of being able to make a difference in each student's life.
