GREAT RIVER CSA

WELCOME TO THE GREAT RIVER PRODUCE CSA!

Thank You for joining us on this journey towards amazing, beyond organic food for all!

This group exists to inform and respond to our members about all aspects of our Community Shared Agriculture. You can email great-river-csa@greatriverproduce.com with any questions, concerns or feedback for us... and it will automatically be responded to, then shared here if applicable to all. This group and the associated Google Docs will also be your tools to order, request, pay, and keep track of your CSA share. But first, the details...

CSA STRUCTURE

Great River CSA shares for 2020 are available now! This is our first public year, and we aim to exceed expectations in quality, affordability, and accessibility for our members. We also want to be able to cover our members if something goes wrong and we have to offer substitutions or other solutions.

We will be offering a VERY diverse array of produce, and there will be a learning curve for us to figure out our members preferences and demand. We implore you to help us by being vocal and prolific in your preferences. We couldn't appreciate your support more, and we want you to stick with us for the long haul.

FALL AND SPRING GREENS

TBD

We will offer pick your own herbs at our St. Paul and Farm locations. In addition to raised beds for herbs, there will be some for season extension filled with Spinach, Brassicas, and whatever else likes the cold. We will try to offer a "cool season greens" share in the Fall of 2020 and Spring of 2021 to our CSA members.

DELIVERY

For a $25-35/delivery fee, we will bring your shares to you (if you live in the Twin Cities).

We prefer not to do this very much, but can accommodate our members occasionally.

CONTAINERS

We plan to issue either a GRP branded rigid cooler, or two insulated cloth coolers (~48 Quart Capacity total) to each member upon first pick up.

Each member will also be issued reusable ice packs. These containers will be brought back to the pick up location weekly. We hope there will not be many forgotten coolers/icepacks, but there will be replacements available on site for a fee of $30 per cooler(s), and $5 per ice pack.

FULL SHARE PAYMENT IN JUNE 2020 WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

But any downpayment ($50+) automatically reserves your share, and individual payment plans can be arranged.

Our members will begin receiving produce June 13th, 2020. We would appreciate all financial arrangements made before then.

THE FINE PRINT

WORK DAYS

Farming is work. Distribution of produce is almost as difficult. For this first year, we will be asking for one "Work Day" from our members. This "Work Day" can be hosting a pick up/transporting shares, weeding, planting, harvesting, hoeing, or whatever's needed on the farm on a day you have available. There will be a "Work" calendar hosted here in Google Docs along with a "Work" sheet listing work opportunities available. Discounts and extras will be available to those who participate.

CROP SUBSTITUTIONS

Nature is unpredictable. We hope to be more reliable. If we have a shortage or a failure, we plan to plant enough this year to cover our members through substitution. We will also be issuing each member a Google Doc spreadsheet with a detailed list of what they will receive in their share. It will be updated monthly both by us and the members. Any requests/substitutions made by members are subject to availability... But we hope to be able to accommodate everyone and accommodate everyone's preferences through our plantings moving forward. Check out our "2020 Crop Schedule" in this group for the veggies that comprise a share. In March, each member will be asked to edit a Google Doc spreadsheet with all upcoming crops. You can fill in any preferences/substitutions there. All requests will be subject to availability, but we should be pretty flexible.
