“As you go through life, you will see that there is so much that we don’t understand.

And the only thing we know is things don’t always go the way we plan.”

-Mufasa, The Lion King

To The Rutland Town School’s Lion King Family,

Greetings from the Pride Lands. They say art imitates life and we can see that in the play we are rehearsing and the school closures we are experiencing right now. If we could have one wish for us all it would be that we were patient with ourselves and each other as we find our way in this new normal. Great plays are filled with universal truths, truths that we can all relate to. How we gather and learn has changed practically overnight and that makes this a time of great uncertainty, just like the Pride Lands experienced. And, just like the Pride Lands saw it’s renewal and return to health, so will we.

Simba had to learn that the best way to honor his place in the Circle of Life was to appreciate what he did have and to recognize he was only alone when he ran away from the people who loved him. We can not meet right now, but you are not alone. We are all part of the great circle of life, united as artists and RTS family.

Right now our play is postponed indefinitely, but we can continue to grow as an arts community! Each week we will be uploading a video challenge- some will be Improv games to keep your Pride Land skills sharp as Scar’s claws, some will be blocking and choreography to practice at home.

Check out this website every Thursday for a new experience from the Pride Lands.

See you soon!
