On April Fool’s Day many people were disappointed that there wasn’t a school prank, only to be surprised the next day with middle school brain rot.
The MS Band Students brainstormed and then printed “brain rot” themed words and phrases and taped them all over the school. Words and phrases like “alpha, gyat, low taper fade, sus, skibidi toilet and fortnite” were plastered on every surface around the school.
“It’s been so cold and dark… we wanted to lighten something up,” Bizzy Farley said.
The pranksters arrived at school at 6:50 in the morning in order to have enough time to tape hundreds of papers all over the floors, lockers, chairs, stairs, walls and tables. This was a very unexpected prank for most of the school, especially since it was the day after April Fool’s.
The MS Band students say they enjoyed this activity. “It’s funny,” Pierce Mclaughlin says.
Elijah Clarke says his favorite part was, “The cafeteria… everything had a brain rot saying on it.”
Although it’s the kids' vocabulary that encouraged this prank, it was Band Director Ms. Papandrea's idea. She explains that on her long drive to school she came up with the idea of having the class's obsession with brain rot be implemented into their prank. Ms. Papandrea hopes that oversaturating the use of the students' vocabulary would “break them from brain rot.”
The students say they liked to see everyone's faces as they walked in and saw their prank.
Of course, seniors hope to outdo this prank by the middle school students soon…
