Boy's Bathroom Gets Restored

The boys bathroom at Proctor Jr/Sr. High School has had quite the rough ride. Last year, the boys’ bathroom was the center of negativity. It was a battle to keep the bathroom clean because a group of boys were not treating the bathroom with respect.
In 2022-2023 the boys bathroom also experienced a lot of vandalism. It got so bad that there had to be a sign out sheet to use the bathroom and use was monitored by an adult, which was usually Mrs. Aiken.
According to custodian Duffy Carleton, some of the vandalism that was happening was: the paper towel dispenser being broken, snot and spit being wiped on the mirrors, spit was all over the sink, and the toilets and sinks were purposely clogged with paper towels. Due to the bathroom being mistreated, the bathroom was in poor condition.
Over the summer, the custodians cleaned and fixed the bathroom. Mr Luba, a special education teacher at Proctor Jr/Sr High School, was one of the first to see the bathrooms fixed and restored. He walked in during the summer and noted, “I was surprised about the paint job in the men’s bathroom and the two shiny new sinks that now worked. I even turned them on.” He complimented the custodians because he was so impressed with how it looked. Mr Luba says he hopes the kids this year will treat the bathroom with respect.
“We painted the bathroom but we had to call plumbers in to fix the broken sinks,” Duffy says, noting that he believes the sinks were broken because someone shoved something into the faucet so the water wasn’t coming out properly.
So far this year there has been no vandalism in the boys bathroom.
