Proctor High School hosted a Trunk-or-Treat for the elementary students grades Pre K-6 on Halloween.
Elementary students arrived and paraded from the skating rink to the student parking lot where they trunk-or-treated to the spooky sounds of halloween music. Students handed out candy from car trunks decorated like pumpkins, bats, Frankenstein and more while their classmates clapped and cheered for the dinosaurs, super-heroes, cheerleaders, football players etc..
The 4th - 6th graders arrived first, followed by the younger grades. Once here, they were paired with their Jr/Sr high school class group.
After each group was done with the trunk-or-treat fun, they were guided by their partners and started playing games. The games consisted of: Witch’s Obstacle Course, Graveyard, Mummy Making, Charades, Witch Hat Ring Toss, and Candy Corn Hole.
Younger and older students seemed to enjoy the games and activities, despite the chaos of doubling the population of our building. The elementary students particularly enjoyed playing charades and wrapping the older students up with toilet paper, mummifying them.
“I think the Student Council did a good job planning the event and I believe it would be nice to see it become an annual event,” Student Council Advisor Ms. Fountain said.
One of the members of the Student Council group, 7th grader Ceci Miles, agreed that it was successful but noted how it was also chaotic. “I think next year the Student Council should plan it a little better, since some groups only got to one game,” Ceci said.
At the end of the day, all the students gathered in the gym and elementary school students were cheered out by our staff and students as they left.
Although the event was a bit busy with so many people in the building, it was joyful and there was a lot of togetherness. The elementary students seemed to have a great time and the high school students enjoyed the energy of the young Trick-Or-Treaters.
