Ms. McLemore chose Proctor High School because she heard great things about the school. Now, in the beginning of her third year, she has settled in well and is looking forward to the future.
“My students keep me here,” she said. Ms. McLemore has built connections with all of her students and faculty. She has also facilitated better connections between students and the community.
Students say that they feel that they can tell her what is on their minds. She also shows up for the students in a number of ways, including sporting events, dances, and checking up on students. Students at Proctor are proud to say that she is their school principal, and a part of their community.
Ms. McLemore boasts about such a small community connecting. One of her favorite memories took place in Proctor town. “The first graduation here was nice. It was nice to see a small town get together, it was heartwarming,” she said.
The desire to become a teacher started when she was just a little girl. “I used to get books from my teachers and I would teach imaginary classes with the books I got,” McLemore stated. Before getting into education, she used to work at a local sandwich shop Gills, movie store Blockbuster and even babysat.
The students describe her as “caring, bubbly, and humorous.”
McLemore believes that her sister is the person who inspires her the most. She describes her as “driven, successful, and intelligent.”
For the future of Proctor Junior/Senior High School, McLemore wants to continue pushing for higher academics and helping students focus on more learning. “I think the past years have gone well. In hindsight, there are some things that I would’ve done differently and some that I would not change,” she states.
When not in school, Principal McLemore enjoys home repair, renovating, and reading. She recommends a book called The Five People You Meet in Heaven by Mitch Albom.
