Proctor Vs. West Rutland
Proctor boys beat a tough West Rutland team with a score of 2-1 on Saturday, September 23, and beat Long Trail 7-1 on Tuesday, September 26. That puts them at 4-1 record.
On Saturday, the Phantoms struck first with 13 minutes in the game as Camdon Kimball got his first goal and Isaac Parker got the second goal. The West Rutland Golden Horde fought back with a goal 2 minutes after Kimball made his goal, with a corner kick from Tristan Rocke, and a header from Peter Gauy into the goal.
“We were good at clearing the ball, but communicating could have been better,” Dylan Aker says about the West Rutland game.
The Phantoms had good defense with keeping it tied 1-1 all throughout the game until there was 3:15 minutes left. Matt Nop played a ball wide and passed it to Isaac for a goal. They tried as hard as they could to keep the ball away from West Rutland. The Golden Horde was close to making a goal but came up short, giving the win to the Phantoms.
“It took a while to get our offense going but we pulled through,” Captain Isaac Parker added.
Proctor Vs. Long Trail
Trying to keep their win streak going, Proctor met up with Long Trail at Taranovich Field on Tuesday afternoon. With 20 minutes left in the first quarter, Matt Nop scored the first goal. For a while, the Phantoms kept rolling through Long Trail with goal after goal. Matt Nop scored 5 goals, Isaac Parker scored 1 goal, and Isaiah scored 1 goal. Senior Carter Crossmon had 4 assists leading to the win.
“It felt good for the game to be 4-0 at the end of the half, but we could've played much better as a team,” Aker said.
Long Trail had their best player hurt so they were struggling to score any goals. They only got 1 goal in the second half of the game off of a penalty kick.
“I wasn't happy with the win because I played terribly and had terrible shots,” Parker said.
The Phantoms play at Grace Christen Thursday, September 28. down in Bennington.
