As we walked in, the smell of popcorn and candy filled the room of the Regal Movie Theater in the Aviation Mall in Queensbury, New York. Polite employees greeted us. The lobby was very spacious and not too crowded.
My family and I ordered two buckets of popcorn and some fountain drinks. It was a little pricey but the portions were great. It was around $9 for a large popcorn which was 170oz. The soda was $7 for 54oz.
The cinema room itself was very cozy. The seats were soft and lined with leather. They also had the option for you to put your legs up and recline back.
The movie I went to watch was “The Super Mario Bros Movie” which is an animated film about the classic brothers Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day).
Throughout the movie, the audience follows the brothers on their journey to save The Mushroom Kingdom from the Koopa Kingdom's army.
The movie starts off with them doing their normal 9-5 plumbing gig “Super Mario Bros Plumbing”. One of the pipes burst and the brothers got sucked in. Mario lands in the Mushroom Kingdom while Luigi lands in the Koopa Kingdom.
Mario is trained by Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) and the toads (Keegan-Michael Key) to fight and protect the Mushroom Kingdom from Bowser’s (Jack Black) powerful army.
The movie itself brings nostalgia to the viewers when their favorite classical characters are brought to life in this animated film. The film gives the viewers a visual of how the Mushroom Kingdom has to train and prepare for battle.
The brothers’ main issue is the problems they have to face in the kingdom that they're in. Mario has the responsibility of protecting Peach’s kingdom from Bowser, while Luigi is held captive by Bowser and his army.
The animation itself was really good; they had a lot of attention to detail when it came to the character's physical appearance and features.
I would give the movie 4 stars because seeing some of my childhood characters brought to life was great. Another reason I liked the movie was because of Jack Black acting as Bowser's voice; he's just an overall funny guy.
