Step into the glittering world of Harvard Law School where brains and beauty collide in Legally Blonde. Based on the narrative written by Amanda Brown and the movie featuring Reese Witherspoon, this lively musical is set to captivate the audience with its infectious humor, memorable tunes, and empowering message of self-discovery.
On Saturday, April 26th at 7 pm or Sunday, the 27th at 2 pm come in and watch the play being put on by 15 Quarry Valley student actors hailing from West Rutland, Rutland Town, and Proctor schools.
PrHS Freshman Jayda Perry will be the lead in the play, acting as the main character Elle Woods. “Learning to play Elle Woods in our school’s production of Legally Blonde has been such a fun experience, with such a great group of kids in this cast. It’s going to be phenomenal, there’s a lot of talent in our theater program,” Jayda said.
They are about halfway through learning the show: having a third of it finished by now. The show itself will run around an hour and a half and audiences will be well enthralled by the acting, flashy lighting, and catchy tunes.
Theater club director Mr. McGee says he chose to do Legally Blonde Jr because it compliments the last play he directed; Mean Girls, and he also said he “wanted to do something where the outfits won’t take so much more work.”
The scenery will go from bright, flashy pink, to more of a light brown and calm setting. The play will start in a sorority house with bright colors and then it changes to Harvard Law School, as that’s where the main character ends up in the story. The majority of the set will be made at West Rutland High School where there’s a class for crafting the pieces.
