My name is Amy Roper and I'm very excited about another school year! I've wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember! When I was a young girl, I would play school with my sisters.
This is me when I was in first grade.
I grew up in a tiny town in the center of Utah named Levan. I graduated from Juab High School.
I graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education.
I have been married to my husband for 32 years.
We have 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter.
We have two grandpuppies:
We have 2 grandchildren - 1 boy and 1 girl.
I have been teaching for 30 years! I have spent most of my career in first grade, but have also taught 4th grade for 11 years and was a reading interventionist for 1 year. I previously taught at Vista Elementary for 19 years and at Roosevelt Elementary for 3 years. I have taught first grade at Bennion Elementary for the past 8 years. I love teaching first grade, especially teaching children how to read! First grade is my absolute favorite, I believe it is a magical year because the students grow so much! I am looking forward to the 2025 - 2026 school year!
I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Southern Utah University. I have a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology with emphasis in Reading and Literacy from the University of Utah. I also have several endorsements: an ESL Endorsement from Weber State University, a Gifted and Talented Endorsement from Utah Valley University and an Educational Technology Endorsement.
I love to work in my yard, run, bake, make crafts, quilt, spend time with my family, and just have fun making memories!
Some of my favorite things are: Diet Coke, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Café Rio, Swig, The University of Utah, Hobby Lobby, quilting and of course, FROGS!
I believe that you can do anything you set your mind to. One of my favorite sayings is, "She believed she could, so she did!" I want my first grade students to believe in themselves and understand that they can do anything that they want to!
