What is the Area of Distinction?
The Area of Distinction refers to a specific field or subject in which a high school student excels or specializes. For each area of distinction a student receives, a special mark is placed on their high school diploma and special recognition in the graduation program.
Students who receive two or more areas of distinction and a 3.0 GPA/CPA also receive a Diploma of Merit which is written on their diploma. Students with a diploma of merit are also given special recognition in the graduation program as well as an Honor Cord with their cap and gown.
