5th June 2026
At Grafton Primary we celebrate the rich mix of backgrounds, languages and beliefs represented by our pupils — with over half of our school speaking English as an additional language and children from around 48 different language communities — and we are clear that everyone must be treated with fairness, kindness and respect. Teaching our pupils the British values of respect, tolerance and mutual responsibility is central to the REAL curriculum and to everything we do: we expect every child to feel included, seen and safe in school regardless of skin colour, religion, ethnicity or any other difference. If your child has experienced something that has upset them, please tell us so we can act: speak first with your child’s class teacher, or contact the phase leader, the safeguarding lead (DSL) or the school office — we will investigate sensitively and respond quickly. Together — school and families — we will model and reinforce that being a good person is not about praise or attention but simply who we are: “Be a good person for no reason. For real. Not for praise, not for attention, not because somebody is watching. Just because that's who you are.”

🌙✨ Eid Celebration at Grafton🌙✨
We were delighted to celebrate Eid together at school and would like to thank everyone who joined us for this special occasion.
Children from Year 4 Ali Class proudly shared their learning about Eid, explaining its significance and talking about how they celebrated with their friends and families. They spoke confidently and enthusiastically, giving everyone a wonderful insight into this important festival.
A special thank you to Mrs Nassa for preparing the children so well and for making the delicious barfi, which was enjoyed by all.
We would also like to thank all the parents and carers who attended and contributed such a wonderful selection of tasty treats. Your support helped make the celebration a memorable and enjoyable event for our school community.
Eid Mubarak to all our families who celebrated!
Administering Medication at School
It is our responsibility to ensure that you understand the guidelines for managing medication in school and early years settings, which have been in effect since December 2015.
Medication should only be brought to school or settings when absolutely necessary— specifically, when not administering it during the school day would negatively impact a child’s health or attendance.
Schools and settings will only accept medication that has been prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a doctor, dentist, nurse prescriber, or pharmacist prescriber. No child will be given prescription medication without prior consent from their parent or carer.
Consent must be provided by completing the designated form here: Consent Form. All medications must be handed directly to school staff and collected in person by the parent, guardian, or a responsible adult. Medication should never be sent to school with the child.
Important: If you consider an item to be medicine or medicated, it must be prescribed to the child and accompanied by a completed consent form. If it is not considered medicine or medicated, it should not be brought into school.
Summer Term Curriculum Maps
To help you to support your child's learning at home, this term's Curriculum Maps are now available on the school website. We encourage you to take a look, as they offer valuable insights into what your child is learning and how you can reinforce this at home. You can also access the maps by clicking on the link below or by visiting the year group pages on the school website :

Could you help us build a mud kitchen?🏠
We're looking for someone who could create a large, safe, and sturdy mud kitchen for our playground. It doesn't need to be perfect—just practical and child-friendly!
🌿 Messy play helps children learn, explore, create, and work together.
🪵 We already have plenty of wood ready for the project.
Please contact the school office if you can help. Thank you!

Our formal group will be encouraged to do sports day with their classes.
Our semi and pre-formal groups will do some sporting activities we have been practising in the KS2 playground at 2.30 on the 1st July. Parents are welcome to come and watch.
We know some children find this difficult, therefore we will record them doing their activities and will share this with any families that are unable to join us or feel it may be preferable not to attend in person.
