Message from Mrs Bana
"Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." Robert Collier
Many of our pupils talk about their learning and activities that they do after-school. Some said that they read, complete tasks given by their parents, go to after-school religious classes or a club. Some said that they watch TV or go online- some mentioned a few online games that are restricted for under 18's or Under 13's. Next week as part of Safer Internet Day our children will be engaging in assemblies and different activities in class. Please ensure that you monitor closely the access your children have to your mobile phone or other devices at home.
We are delighted to share that nursery spaces are available for the 2026 intake and we are now welcoming enquiries from parents and carers.
To be eligible for a nursery place starting in September 2026, your child must be 3 years old on or before 31st August 2026 🎂📅. This follows standard early years admission guidance and ensures children are ready to thrive in a nursery setting.
Our nursery offers a safe, caring, and stimulating environment where children can learn, grow, and flourish 🌱✨. Through play-based learning, we support children in building confidence, independence, and curiosity.
A warm and welcoming environment 🏠
Fun, age-appropriate activities🧩
Opportunities to make friends and develop social skills👫
A healthy balance of structured learning and free play 📚
Preparation for the next step in their learning journey 🌈
Applications for nursery places should be made online via the school’s admissions page:

🎒 Reminder: Personal Items at School and big knapsacks and other bags 🚫🧸✏️
This is a polite reminder that students are not permitted to bring toys, keychains, or stationery items from home to school or various other bags that are not the school official book bag.
Pupils are finding it hard to hook up their coats, jumpers, hats etc on one hook due to the bags brought in. This is posing a health and safety risk as many of the coats then end up on the floor.
Personal items can become distractions during learning time and may also be misplaced or cause unnecessary disruption. To help maintain a focused and safe learning environment for all students, we ask that all personal items remain at home.
Please ensure that your child brings only required school materials each day. If such items are brought to school, they may be collected and returned at the end of the day.
Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in helping us create the best learning environment for our children.
Help Us Care for Our Reading Books
Please could you help us by not putting water bottles in bags with reading books? We’ve had a couple of books ruined recently due to leaking bottles, and unfortunately, it’s very difficult to repair the damage. When books get wet, the pages stick together, making them unusable.
If a book is damaged beyond repair, we will ask for a £5 replacement contribution. This helps to ensures all children have access to good-quality reading books.
🩺 First Aid Training for Rights Ambassadors 🚑
On Wednesday, 4th February 2026, our Year 5 and Year 6 Rights Ambassadors took part in first aid training delivered by St John’s Ambulance. This training will support them in their role as OPAL Playground Ambassadors.
The children learned a range of basic first aid skills, including how to respond calmly and safely in the event of an emergency. The session helped to build their confidence, teamwork and sense of responsibility when supporting others.
This learning links to the UNICEF Article -24, which highlights every child’s right to the best possible health and access to health education.
📚 Religious Education Donations Request ✨
To support teaching and learning at Grafton, we would be very grateful for any donations of religious artefacts or photographs that you no longer need and would be happy for the school to keep.
Your support would help raise the profile of Religious Education at Grafton and enrich our pupils’ learning experiences.
If you are able to donate any items, please leave them in the box outside Ali class (Year 4) on Thursday 12th or Friday 13th February at 8:40am.
Thank you for your continued support.
