19th June 2026
At Grafton we teach pupils to respond with Respect, Kindness and Honesty — not with returning hurt or using unkind language.
Please help us by repeating the same calm messages at home: we do not “hit back” or use bad words when we are angry; we use words, ask an adult for help, or step away to calm down. Some pupils are non‑verbal or become dysregulated and may show their feelings differently; that’s why we avoid labels like “naughty” and instead explain behaviour as dysregulation or a child struggling to manage emotions. When parents mirror our language and routines, children learn safer ways to manage anger and confusion and are much less likely to get into trouble.
Thank you for supporting our school values each day — together we help every pupil feel understood and able to learn.
☀️ Hot Weather Reminder ☀️
With hot weather forecast for next week, we would like to remind families to help children stay safe, cool, and comfortable during the warmer temperatures.
Please ensure your child comes to school each day with:
🧢 A sun hat
💧 A water bottle
🧴 Sunscreen applied before arriving at school (please do not send sunscreen into school)
👕 Suitable lightweight clothing in line with the school uniform policy
Please note: Children should not bring handheld fans or sunglasses into school. Handheld fans can be distracting during lessons and may get damaged or misplaced. Sunglasses can also easily get lost or broken and are not required during the school day.
Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with your child's name.
Thank you for your support and cooperation in helping us keep everyone safe during the warm weather.
Important Arbor Update
Simpler, Faster Card Payments
We're pleased to let you know that Arbor has introduced an improved card payment experience for parents and school staff.
Whether you're topping up an account, purchasing items from the school shop, or paying for a trip, you'll now be able to securely save your card details and make payments using Apple Pay or Google Pay on desktop devices.
When making a payment through the Arbor Parent Portal or MIS, you'll be directed to a new, user-friendly payment page (powered by ultra-secure Stripe), a leading secure payment provider. Simply follow the on-screen instructions and you'll be returned to Arbor once your transaction has been completed. To learn more, head to our Help Centre
Coming Soon: Parent App Updates
Later this month, similar improvements will be introduced to card payments within the Arbor Parent App. We'll share further details as soon as these updates are available.

🌞 A Remarkable Summer Fair 🎉
Our Summer Fair was a fantastic success, bringing together children, families, staff, and members of our community for an afternoon of fun and celebration. From games and activities to refreshments and entertainment, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
We would like to thank all the parents, carers, volunteers, and staff who helped make the event such a memorable occasion. Your support, generosity, and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated.
A special thank you goes to our PTA and to Ms Carroll for their hard work, dedication, and excellent organisation in making the event possible. Their commitment and countless hours of preparation ensured that the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.
We are delighted to share that the fair raised valuable funds that will be used to enhance opportunities and resources for our children. Thank you for helping to make the day such a wonderful success.
Please enjoy the photographs below, which highlights some of the memorable moments and joyful experiences shared during this wonderful event.
Outstanding Home Learning Success🎉
A huge well done to Lia in Year 4, who has created a fantastic model of Valence House as part of her home learning project.
Lia demonstrated incredible creativity, attention to detail and dedication in producing her impressive model. During a recent visit to Valence House, she had the special opportunity to present her work to the museum team in person.
The Valence House team were delighted to receive Lia's amazing creation and were full of praise for the quality of her work. They have kindly agreed to proudly display the model in the museum for visitors to enjoy.
We are extremely proud of Lia's achievement and the enthusiasm she has shown for her learning. What a wonderful way to celebrate our local history and share her talents with the wider community. Well done, Lia!
🏃♂️🏃♀️ Quadkids Athletics Competition 🏅🎉
Our Year 5/6 group recently attended the Quadkids Athletics Competition, one of the borough's biggest athletics events. Mr Stefan and Mrs Harvey accompanied the children to the event and supported them throughout the day.
The children were incredibly excited to get started and showcase all the skills they had been working hard on during their training sessions at school over the past few weeks. As soon as they arrived and were ready to begin, their determination, enthusiasm, and desire to make the school proud were clear.
During the competition, the children took part in four events: Standing Long Jump, 75 Metres, Vortex Throw, and 600 Metres. They performed brilliantly in every event, and came 7th out of 18 schools giving their best effort and demonstrating excellent sportsmanship, resilience, and teamwork throughout the day.
Mr Stefan was extremely proud of all the children for their fantastic attitude and commitment. We are still awaiting the official results of the competition, but regardless of the outcome, they represented the school wonderfully and definitely did the school proud.
Well done to everyone who took part – a fantastic achievement!
