15th May 2026
This week our Year 6 pupils were put through their paces for SATs. They arrived on time each day, enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the dining hall with their peers, and used the time to chat and do some last‑minute revision (see photos below).Their focus, resilience and kindness to one another were a credit to the whole school.
To all our Year 6 pupils — well done and thank you for doing the very best you can. Thank you also to the teachers and teaching assistants who have supported them through this journey with care, calm routines and high expectations. As Winston Churchill reminded us, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.” That courage is exactly what we saw this week.
Now our focus turns to writing: helping pupils to bring together what they have learned to craft wonderful stories, build stronger vocabulary, develop accurate handwriting and punctuation, and practise planning, drafting and revising their work. We will also continue to strengthen reading fluency, maths problem‑solving and wider curriculum learning so every pupil has the chance to make strong progress from their starting point.
Thank you to families for your support this week — your encouragement makes a real difference.
Proud of Our Year 6 Children
Year 6 children joined their friends for our pre-SATs breakfast this week. They have worked so hard this year, some attending booster classes and Easter school, and it was a joy to see them supporting each other in their last minute revision. Every day this week, they have shown their determination to succeed. They are a credit to Grafton and to you.

👥 Rights Ambassadors lead Assemblies across the School🎤
This week, our Rights Ambassadors proudly led assemblies across the school to share the important work they have been doing and to help everyone understand what it means to be a Rights Respecting School. They spoke confidently to their peers about children’s rights and why these rights matter in creating a safe, happy and inclusive environment for all.
During the assemblies, children learned that all adults are duty bearers. This means that adults have a responsibility to help protect children’s rights, listen to their voices and ensure they are treated fairly and with respect. The ambassadors also explained that the Convention on the Rights of the Child applies to every child, everywhere, without discrimination.
A key message from the assemblies was the importance of inclusion. Children learned how we work together as a school community to make sure that everyone is included and valued, no matter what disabilities or additional needs they may have. Our Rights Ambassadors highlighted how small actions, kindness and understanding can make a big difference in helping everyone feel they belong.
We are incredibly proud of our Rights Ambassadors for leading these assemblies so thoughtfully and for continuing to champion the rights of all children across our school.
