Welcome to the 2023-2024

School Year

Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year; and what a year we will have ahead of us!

It has been a joy to meet everyone who has become a part of the Falling Waters family over the past two days.  Our staff and I will continue work hard to build relationships and tailor instruction to ensure every student is successful!

Thank you for sharing your children with us.  We look forward to a wonderful year ahead.

One of our goals is regular attendance.  Regular attendance is very important in elementary school, including kindergarten.  During these years, one day of missed school equals 2.5 days of lost math learning and 1.5 days of lost language and literacy learning.  This is also important for developing social skills.

Our Falling Waters PTO has some exciting plans for 2023-24!  Follow the PTO on Facebook @FallingWatersElementaryPTO for the latest events.

We are ordering sprirt wear- Click here for our school store!

To contact the PTO, email our President, Stacy Eshbach at fallingwaterspto@gmail.com for more information!

Parents are able to access their child's lunch account online.  Visit our Food & Nutrition Services website here.  Accounts and payment information can be found here.

If you should have any questions regarding your child’s lunch account, please feel free to contact our lunch paraprofessional, Mrs. Kelly Leahy at  402-332-3938 or kleahy@gpsne.org.

Students are welcome to celebrate their birthdays at school!  Please be sure they are store bought.

To help your child's birthday celebration run smoothly, please send the treats with your child to school in the morning.

Guests are welcome to join us at lunch. There will be special "Guest" tables set up in the lunchroom for you and your child to eat.  Your child will not be allowed to invite another student to eat with them at the guest table.

We do ask that you limit lunch visits to birthdays only until after Labor Day to allow for us to teach expectations and help students learn the routines and procedures.  Thank you for your help and understanding.

Meal Benefit Applications are available by clicking here.

Meet our secretaries!  Our 12- month secretary is Ms. Pam Nothwehr.  Before working at  Falling Waters, Ms. Pam was at Whitetail Creek, Palisades Elementary, and Gretna Elementary school.  She was also a secretary in Colorado. Ms. Pam is a Gretna native, and has two sons and a daughter, all Gretna grads!  When she is not at school, Pam is often entertaining family from out of town.

Our 10-month secretary is Mrs. Wendi Pedersen.  Ms. Wendi comes to us from Whitetail Creek Elementary, where she formerly served as the lunchroom secretary.  Ms. Wendi has two daughters, Abigail, who is a  sixth grader at Aspen Creek Middle School and Grace, who is a junior at Gretna East High School.  In her free time, Wendi enjoys spending time with family and going to the pool.

Ms. Pam & Ms. Wendi

Meet Mrs. Sarah Hall, our school counselor at Falling Waters Elementary.  Mrs. Hall has nineteen years counseling experience, seven years teaching experience, and comes to us from Whitetail Creek Elementary in Gretna.  Prior to serving our Gretna community, Sarah was a counselor in Elkhorn and Omaha Public Schools.  Mrs. Hall is thrilled to support our students and families at Falling Waters!  Your child(ren) will meet with Mrs. Hall during Guidance classes every other week for 30-45 minutes.

If you are seeking any outside support, please know Mrs. Hall also works with a variety of agencies that provide help with food, clothing, and other needs.  This is completely confidential

You can contact Mrs. Hall for more information at shall@gpsne.org or call 402.332.3938  Be sure to check out the Gretna Public Schools counseling home page here.

For our first day, our car riders were all picked up within 15 minutes through the pick-up loop!  Thank you everyone for following the signage!

Also, thank you again for all of your patience and flexibility during our arrival and dismissal processes.  I know everyone is working hard to create a safe and smooth flow.
