Gretna Public Schools

Network Infrastructure Refresh & Service Contract

FCC Form 470 #210021898

Questions & Answers

1. Can a manufacturer attend this meeting in lieu of the actual responder who is a partner? More specifically, we as the manufacturer are not responding directly as our partner will send the final response to Gretna Public Schools.

Yes. There will be a sign-in sheet at the pre-proposal conference. The vendor can send a representative of choice. When the representative signs in it will be important that they also indicate the vendor they are representing.

2. Does GPS require onsite support services where remote support services are traditionally able to address everything except for physically swapping APs, Switches, or cable ports?

If remote support is sufficient to address and fully resolve the issue, then that will be all that is required. However, if an issue cannot be fully resolved in a reasonable amount of time via remote support, onsite support will be required.

3. Should managed-services be quoted if/when the district has access to district services from the ESU?

We are an extremely fast-growing district with a number of building projects, construction, and all the challenges that come with it. We are currently 1-to-1 in grades 9-12 with MacBook Airs and just went 1-to-1 in grades 6-8 with iPads, which means we've added nearly 3000 devices to our network in the last month. Our Technology Staff is outstanding but most have additional responsibilities including classroom teaching and extra-curricular assignments. While we are extremely grateful for all the support the ESU provides and will continue to work closely with them in the future, the district has identified a need for additional support and is therefore requesting bids for a managed-services contract.

4. Does the managed service contract need to include students and teachers? RFP does not say anything about student and teacher support.

5. Will the cabling contactor be performing the support and maintenance on the fiber and cabling?

Whoever installs the fiber will be responsible for providing maintenance and support.

6. Can we receive ticket counts YTD? Can you classify tickets?

This information is not available.

7. Are there any non-windows-based systems which they expect us to manage and patch?

Yes. We are primarily a Mac school with both Mac & Windows servers

8. Does GPS have a detailed Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery plan with specific Recovery Point Objective and Recovery Time Objective expectations?

No. This is something we are working on.

9. Does GPS require retention of backup images longer than 12 months?

10. Does GPS have a designated individual at each school location who is the primary contract and can function as our hands for remote support?

No. We have one (1) District-Wide Network Specialist. We do have a designated Tech Coordinator at each building but these individuals also have teaching responsibilities, which limits when they are available.

11. Does GPS have a preference for equipment brands or is that up to the MSP?

The RFP provides a list of requested equipment for the project, which is indicative of our preference. The main requirement is that all equipment works seamlessly together and provides visibility of the network.

12. Multi-factor to computers, applications, other systems? Is multi-factor enabled?

No, not at this time.

13. Does GPS have a particular list of vendors that require MSP management/interactions at this time?

14. Are servers all physical or are they virtualized?

We have some of both but are working to virtualize as much as possible.

15. Any active or recurring issues that we need to be aware of?

Yes, intermittent Internet access and network slowness has been an issue (specifically at HS and Admin Buildings) and will need to be resolved before the start of the 2021-2022 school year.

16. Any security incidents (ransomware, email account compromised, etc.) in the last year?

17. What is the model and age of your Firewalls?

FortiGate 1500D – Approximately 3 years old

18. Should the managed service contract include server management? If so, how many servers, what type of operating systems and will they be virtual or physical?

After further deliberation, server management should not be included.
