Health | Semester Long | 9th-12th Grade
This required class provides students with information regarding the three main concepts of Physical Health, Mental/Emotional Health and Family/Social Health. Specific units include, but are not limited to, nutrition, substance abuse, mental illness, personal safety, and environmental issues. Health taken in 7th & 8th grade fulfills this requirement.
Foundations of PE | Semester Long | 9th-12th Grade
This class provides the basic principles of our physical education program. Students will participate in aerobic and anaerobic exercise, flexibility, team sports, and learn concepts of a healthy lifestyle. This course may not be repeated.
Lifetime Sports (605) | Semester Long | 11th-12th Grade
This course is designed to teach the skills and concepts behind many sports that can be played throughout one’s lifetime. History and rules of each sport are covered and then games are organized for students. Sports include tennis, Ultimate Frisbee, sideline football, basketball, volleyball, badminton, floor hockey and more. Students should expect to be participating in physical activity every day. This course may not be repeated.
Aerobic Fitness (606) | Semester Long | 10th-12th Grade
This course is designed to provide the students with the opportunity to increase physical fitness through aerobic activities. Students work out daily in a non-competitive environment and at their own pace.but students should expect to have physical activity on a daily basis. However, be prepared to be pushed and challenged along the way. Workouts include aerobic walking/running , step aerobics Zumba, Pilates, yoga and cardio workouts in our new fitness center. This course may be repeated.
Introduction to Strength and Conditioning | Semester Long | 9th-12th Grade
This course is a prerequisite to all other Strength and Conditioning courses and is meant for students who have no experience in the G HS weight room with our Strength and Conditioning Coordinator. This class is designed to introduce students to the concepts of warm-up, flexibility, body weight movements, and finally an introduction to the fundamentals and techniques of lifting free weights. Students will not be allowed to progress until they can perform specific body weight exercises and show mastery of lifting techniques. This course cannot be repeated unless our instructor feels a student is not strong enough to move to our advanced class.
Advanced Strength and Conditioning (Prerequisite: Intro to Strength and Conditioning) | Semester Long | 9th-12th Grade
This is designed to maximize human performance through flexibility, strength training, aerobic, anaerobic and plyometric exercises. Students should expect to be highly active on a daily basis with the goal being to improve their fitness level through the workouts provided. This course can be repeated and is open to freshmen who have previous experience with our Strength & Conditioning Coordinator through athletics or summer workouts.
Peak Performance (Prerequisite: Intro to Strength and Conditioning) | Semester Long | 10th-12th Grade
This is a course designed for student-athletes who are driven to improve their performance and physical ability. INTENSE workouts are designed to improve strength, speed, agility and overall cardiovascular endurance. Resistance bands, free weights, plyometrics, max interval training, long distance runs, stair climbs, and core workouts are among the list of what is planned for the student who wants to get the edge on the competition. This course may be repeated.
