Using Google Sites to Create a Teacher Website
All teachers in Galena Park ISD must have and maintain a website.
Websites must include:
Weekly calendar (including assignment due dates)
Class schedule
Teacher contact request form/information
“Office hours” for remote environment and conference time for face-to-face learning
Tutorial times
**Note: Websites must be updated weekly
Setting up a Google Site
This video will show you the following:
Create basic layout of a Google site
Change themes, colors, custom banner
Add additional pages to your site
Add text, pictures, links
Insert Docs and Slides on your site
Note: Anytime you make a change to your website, you must click the Publish button to see the changes on your Google Site
Adding a Google Classroom Calendar to your Web Site
You will need to include a calendar on your site to show your instructional schedule and when assignments are due. You can use the calendar in your Google Classroom. When you give assignments to students through Google Classroom and assign a due date, it will automatically add the assignment to your class calendar. See video for further instructions on adding a calendar from your Classroom to your Google Site.
**Note - If you have more than one Classroom, you may want to add multiple calendars onto your Google Site. Just follow the directions to add the multiple calendars and make sure that the Title for each calendar is showing.
Class Schedule
Be sure to include your class schedule on your website. You will need a schedule for online learning and when the district returns to face-to-face learning, you will need to update your schedule. This information can be on the homepage of your site.
