Ms. Waugh: Room 2112
Hello! I'm Ms. Waugh, and if you're reading this, you are one of my Advanced English II students. I am so incredibly excited to have you (or your student) in my class!
I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2023 and from Vidor High School in 2019. I chose to pursue a degree in English and Secondary Education because I believe that reading and writing are the most fundamental aspects of our society. Reading helps us develop our critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are two vital components in navigating the world we live in.
Reading is something that takes practice, so it's okay if you're not perfect at it (nobody is). Think of my class as a practice period; yes, you will learn new things, but you will also train yourself to be the best you can be. This will sometimes be a difficult class, but remember: You've got this, and I've got you!!!
You are in my Advanced English 2 class, meaning you will still have to take the English 2 STAAR test at the end of the year. There will be district-wide shutdown days in which you take a practice exam, and I will spend the semester teaching you the necessary knowledge, plus all the tips and tricks to ensure that you are successful!
I have no doubt in my mind that you are all capable of greatness! Remember, no matter what happens, you are not limited to the score you got on a test. You are all bright and wonderful people and will do well regardless!
All documents can be found on your student's Google Classroom. This includes the syllabus, guidelines, and book list. If you have any questions, please reach out to me via SchoolStatus, and I will do my best to help you out!
