Big eyes. Tall nose. Small frame. Fair complexion. Have you ever heard, or been judged by these standards of beauty? In the United States and countries around the world there seem to be a variety of different notions on "beauty," each rigid and seemingly unbendable in their own terms. Our workshop will discuss the various beauty standards around the world -- Where did the standards come from? How did these standards come to be? We will also consider the implications of beauty standards on the International Students who waddle between two or more standards of beauty in different cultures. Finally, we will explore its intersection with colorism, imperialism, and racism.
