Senior Capstone
What is Senior Capstone?
Senior Capstone is a trimester-long research/ exploration course where students explore a future career of interest. This course is designed so that students utilize the skills honed from their high school experience thus far, and apply these skills to design a path towards their future goals. Throughout the trimester, students research their career of interest, create a professional website, contact and interview mentors in their future career field, and connect their personal goals to the community by creating a Community Service Project. All of these components come together during their final presentations, where students showcase the work they've done over the trimester.
Senior Capstone Mission Statement:
The Lee High School Senior Capstone is designed to prepare and educate students for paths in higher education, vocational training, and the military. The course provides seniors with several culminating experiences while preparing them for graduation.
Lee Capstone Goals
● To provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in their courses
● To allow students to expand their academic experiences to personal career interests that could include working with new ideas, organizations, and community members
● To encourage students to think critically and creatively about academic, professional, and/or social issues and to further develop their leadership skills within their community
● To provide students with the opportunity to refine their research skills and to demonstrate their growth in their written and verbal communication skills
● To engage in service-learning where students participate in activities or experiences that relate to their future goals while benefiting others or their community.
● To expand the program into a full K-12 program that involves a Capstone experience across the district, career readiness, mentoring program, and a school to work program for Special Education students
