Welcome to the library!!!

I'm Ms. Gerstner and I'm excited about all the fun opportunities we will have in the Oak Street Library.

I was born in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from Northwest Highschool. While growing up I spent most of my summers attending the summer reading programs at my local library. When I was old enough, I was able be a teen volunteer at the library during the summers. I signed kids up for the summer reading club, helped put on plays, and helped with the many activities that the library held.

I attended Emporia State University and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education. From there, I started my teaching career in Wichita, at Allen Elementary. My first three years were in 4th grade and then I moved to 3rd grade.

In May 2021, I graduated with my masters in Library Science. It was so exciting, due to the fact that I have wanted to be a librarian since I was four! The 21/22 school year was my first foray into the library and I really loved it. I learned so much from the students as well as the staff and especially Mrs. Soza. I'm excited to continue instilling a love of reading and learning as I work here at Oak.

When I'm not in the library, I spend time with my friends and family and taking care of Captain Mad Gecko, my crested gecko. I love catching up on my reading as well as reading books that I hope to add to our ever growing library collection at Oak.

Hello!! My name is Mrs. Soza and I am the library clerk here at Oak Street. My job is to help students find great books, check them out and fall in love with reading! It can take you to all kinds of places! Prior to moving here, my husband and I lived in the Dodge City area and I was employed as an ELL para for 10 years. We have loved living in the Goddard community! I have been at Oak Street for 17 years. Its been very rewarding to see how much our students grow over the years. When I'm not at school I love spending time with my family, working in the yard and of course reading!!!
