Meredith Beavers

Welcome to Family and Consumer Science! I am so glad you are here! I have been teaching FCS for six years and am passionate about the field. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Friends University. I taught sixth grade for two years at Challenger Intermediate and then stayed home with my children for eight years, running an in-home daycare business. I returned to the classroom as a substitute teacher and decided to go back to school to get my Master's degree. I received my Master's in Family and Consumer Science Education from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and began teaching FCS at Cheney High School. The 2025-2026 school year will be my second year at Eisenhower High school. I am also completing my dissertation at Texas Tech University, where I will receive my Ph.D. in Family and Consumer Science Education. I am a lifelong learner who enjoys learning new things that I can pass along to my students. 

I have been married to my husband, PJ, for 21 years. He is a flight safety investigator at Textron Aircraft in Wichita. We have two children, Grace and Grant. Grace is a sophomore at Missouri State University majoring in nursing. Grant is an eighth grader at Cheney Middle School. We enjoy traveling, pool days, and watching "old" sitcoms together as a family.
