Topics covered include the study of measurements, atomic theory, chemical bonding, nomenclature, stoichiometry, solutions, acids and bases, gas laws, condensed states, kinetics, thermodynamics and an introduction to organic and biochemistry. Laboratory experiments will be used to merge theory and application and are designed to challenge student inquiry. This course will also help students develop problem-solving techniques and gain a greater appreciation of the impact science has on their daily lives.
