Groveport Madison High School has adopted the use of GoGuardian to increase student engagement and help students stay on task. This is an instructional delivery, classroom management and community building tool. It helps keep students on task and helps teachers stay connected to students by allowing teachers to monitor students' screens and communicate with them in real time. GoGuardian requires that students are logged into their district issued Chromebook using their Go Cruisers account.
Chatting with students by utilizing the chat feature- this allows students and teachers to communicate immediately and privately away from the rest of the class.
Restricting access to off-task sites- teachers can limit certain sites that students are able to visit during the class period. This helps to ensure that students are using their chromebook for academic tasks and are not getting distracted by non-academic sites.
Closing out of open tabs- teachers are able to close students' tabs. This can help students stay organized by prioritizing diffrent sites and tasks. It can also be used to privately redirect a student who is using their chromebook in a way that is not approved by the teacher.
Collecting data on student internet usage- GoGuardian creates reports that show how students are spending their time online, their top 5 most visited sites, and a record of their search history. These reports can provide parents and teachers insights into how their student is using their school-managed device during different times of the day.
Parent Information- Parents/Guardians are encouraged to reach out to teachers with questions regarding their child's technology usage during class time. Reports/data are available upon request.
