Students are placed in credit recovery by their guidance counselor and this course(s) will take place during an assigned period of the day like all other classes. Your child will be placed with a teacher who is certified to teach the credit that they are recovering so they may ask questions/receive help. They will be placed with other students recovering credits in the same subject.
How Does Credit Recovery Work?
Credit recovery courses run through a program called Edmentum. This digital platform utilizes an online course through which students progress at their own pace. All class time is expected to be used for credit recovery work only. This helps to ensure that students are progressing through the course and are able to ask for help when it is needed. Students are also able to work on their course outside of school hours. Students are able to see their progress towards course completion on their course progress bar.
Who is My Child's Credit Recovery Teacher?
While the course is all digital, your child will still have an assigned teacher who they will go to class with every day. This teacher will be issuing grades for discussion posts, tutoring your child when needed, making sure students stay on task, and unlocking material as students move through the course. Students must pass the course with atleast a 60% in order for their credit to be recovered.
Cruiser Accel
For students who are significantly credit deficient, they may be placed in Cruiser Accel- an alternative placement location where they will be provided additional support to recover their credits and get back on track for graduation. Please reach out to your school counselor for more information on Cruiser Accel if needed.
