Current position:
He has been working since 2006 in the development of easy-to-use colorimetric optical sensors, using as instrumentation common digital devices as scanners, photographic cameras and mobile phones. Lately, the improvement of the mobile phone specifications turning them into the known as smartphones and combining it together with analytical microfluidic devices, he is focus in the development of Point-of-Need devices that fulfils with the ASSURED guidelines, using paper, thread and cloth as support, as well as portable instrumentation in collaboration with the electronic components of the ECsens group which belongs. As results, in the last years he has published several papers in the first decile journals of Analytical Chemistry area as Biosensors and Bioelectronic, ACS Sensors, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. Results obtained in the last years are due to a multidisciplinary work together with electronic engineers, organic chemists, theoretical chemists and microbiologist from the University of Granada, University of Portland, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia and Dublin City University. He is also part of the Unit of Excellence in Chemistry applied to Biomedicine and the Environment of the University of Granada.Â
